Basically, there are two ways you can go about Internet marketing web site promotion. You can either spend a little money and get targeted traffic or you can invest a lot of time and go the free route. Whatever one you choose will obviously be based on your current financial situation. However, I’m going to give you some pros and cons to both avenues in hopes it will help you make an informed decision.

The Free Route

There are several ways to build traffic by doing it free. You have MySpace, Facebook, videos on YouTube, building profiles on business networking sites, email marketing to your contacts, contributing to forums with a signature link, and several others. Each one can bring people to your website, but it’s not all peaches n’ cream. The question is whether you have enough time to do all of it.

Think about it, if you build a profile on one business or social network you have to learn their back office. The biggest thing is how the HTML works in order to place banners, text links, and pictures in their proper place. If you go to a forum then you have to spend time reading over posts and threads, then making your own replies so people can see that signature link you’ve attached to your profile. I could go over hundreds of things, but you get the point. So plan to set aside some time.

Investing a Little Dough

If you’ve already set up a budget on how much you plan to spend on Internet marketing web site promotion, then that’s a start. The next thing you need to do is figure out if you want to use tools like Google Adwords, buying targeted leads, or purchasing an autoresponder. All of these will get you traffic faster, but the most important one is getting that autoresponder. Why? Well, I’ll explain it for you.

See, if you’re getting visitors to your website, you never know when they’re looking over everything. If you have an enticing contest, newsletter, training course, or gift attached, people will want to sign up. This will allow you to keep in contact with them through broadcast emails and eventually try to sell them something. The more you have the better, but if you don’t have an autoresponder at all, you are just losing out on business.

Implementing Everything

One thing I want to note is that the more of these you use the better. However, I understand that everyone’s situation is different and you will have to adjust your Internet marketing web site promotion to everyday life. So take some time to set up a plan of what you want to do. Don’t try to do them all at once, but take them one step at a time. It may seem trivial, but going at it all at once won’t be as effective for your business. Just something to keep in mind when you get started.
